pixel adoption gallery
I admit it. I like dollz. Yes, dollz, those infamous computer-drawn creations found on the websites of phonetically-inclined preteens everywhere. Once used as chat avatars at The Palace, pixel dolls have taken over the Net. For years they have been a pastime of the young female online community, roughly equivalent in status to such Internet wonders as the Livejournal meme, the fanlisting, and the entire Pirates of the Caribbean fandom. In short, they're everywhere, and no one is quite sure why.
In recent years, however, pixel dolls have been reinvented, their amateurish, Barbie-esque quality countered by talented artists who are busy producing miniature works of art. Before long, even a cynic like me who thought herself quite above the old "adoption" business is revving to collect these little beauties.
This not-so-small gallery is comprised of dolls by my favorite pixel artists. None of them are mine. If you want to adopt them yourself, follow the link below the doll in question and adopt it from there, carefully following the terms of use given by each artist. Please do not download or direct link them from my site, or I shall be forced to go after you with my spork. It is a very sharp, pointy spork. Don't say I didn't warn you.
